Cherie Winand Memorial Award
Cherie Winand passed away on July 14, 2003, at the age of 13. A dedicated member of the swim team since she was just 5 or 6 years old, Cherie was a talented swimmer and a true exemplar of good sportsmanship. She was always the first to offer a helping hand to her coaches—arriving early to set up for practice and staying late to help pack up.
Cherie’s passing was a profound loss for our entire swim team community. In her memory, swim team families contributed funds to install a memorial bench and stones by the baby pool, marked by a commemorative plaque. To honor her lasting impact and spirit of service, the Cherie Winand Award was established the following year to recognize individuals who share her dedication and love for the team. Each year, the coaches choose dedicated swimmers whose qualities, character, and work ethic exemplify Cherie, and have changed our team for the better to receive this award.

Donna Shield Volunteer Award
Donna Shield was lost to us in a car accident just before the holidays in 2007. She was a cornerstone of our swim team community, always stepping up to help whenever needed and serving with a cheerful heart and positive attiutde. Donna was an exceptionally giving and generous person, and the team created this special honor to keep her memory alive. Each year, the swim team board selects a volunteer who truly embodies Donna’s selfless spirit, dedication, and love for our team.
