Kelly Flickinger (Coach Flick) grew up swimming and running in El Paso, TX and Longview, WA. After moving to Austin to attend the University of Texas at Austin, she received degrees in Mathematics and Education in May 2000, and married her amazing husband, Matt Flickinger, in December 2001. Kelly Flick has been an educator in Austin for 25 years, and currently teaches Advanced Mathematics at James Bowie High School. During her educational journey, Flick took advantage of the great outdoors, and added tennis and biking to her training. Coach Flick found a passion for triathlons, and competed in several triathlons, focusing on personal and athletic growth, which led to a passion in coaching. Coach Flick was the head coach for the Bowie High School Tennis Team and Triathlon Team from 2004 – 2007, and helped with both the WO Dolphins and James Bowie High School Swim Team from 2006-2007. After the birth of their son, Morgan, in September 2007, Coach Flick was honored and excited to accept the Head Coach position for the Western Oaks Dolphins’ Team for the 2008 and 2009 swim seasons. Not only did she LOVE coaching this team, The Flick’s found a second family here. When The Flick Family found out they would welcome baby McCrae in May 2010, it was time to step away from coaching. In 2015, when the time came for the little Flicks to swim, there was no question which team to join; once a Dolphin, always a Dolphin! Coach Flick and her family love that the Dolphin Team embodies the belief that summer league should be about setting goals, personal improvement, loving to swim, and having fun while growing throughout the season. Coach Flick is honored to be back as Head Coach this year and looks forward to sharing, learning, teaching, and growing with this AWESOME Dolphin Team. GO DOLPHINS!
Originally from Eureka, California, Greg grew up in the waterlogged "lost coast", and loved swimming from the age of 5. He immediately started teaching swim lessons after 10 years of year-round competitive swimming. This ritual continued through college! He achieved some quality times in the IM's, breaststroke and freestyle and was an NCAA All-American some umpteen times. Coaching and teaching came naturally, and he began a 7 day per week career- coaching age group, high school and masters swimmers beginning in 1998. Greg and Melissa came to Austin 2005. The Davis kids are avid swimmers too. Greg is also a musician and artist. He uses a nickname given to him in 1991: "Gus" and his artist porfolio is here:
